Sorry but... if it is "expensive and overrated", why did you buy it? And even if it was maybe just "expensive", wouldn't it be worth checking its specs and manual before investing in so much money, rather than taking the risk of being "surprised" after (unless you have a return policy to keep you on the safe side)?

This can happen also with other brands, for example when Yamaha issued Montage as a replacement of Motif XF it added many features, but also took out some (e.g. the sequencer), so it is always recommended to check any new model in detail before buying because it is not necessarily just adding stuff to it.

This happens all the time, often concerning MIDI, even in the Stage product line.

I have no idea where this behaviour comes from: capacities of the chips, capacity of the developpers?

I want to control two midi zones of my fantom using nord as a controller. My goal was to have the "gigging machine" as a versatile keyboard for my sets.

Yes I understand your target and I am sorry you didn't catch that the relevant NE5 feature for that (KB Split Mode) was removed from NE6, for reasons we cannot know, we can just speculate about them... my recommendation to always double check manuals/specs/reviews is something I apply to myself first, because many of today's keyboards are complex enough that you cannot just trust the name or generic advertising...

As Fziegler suggested, you can still do that with the NE6, but you need to use some external MIDI Processing (an app on a computer/tablet or a dedicated box)
