NS4 section buttons

The power buttons for the sound engines (organ, piano, synth) behave differently on various patches. For example, when I toggle the organ section off, sometimes it kills the notes being played immediately when the button is pressed, and on some patches the notes being played will sustain until the keys are lifted (even after the section is turned off). So, my question is.....can the section power buttons be configured somehow? Why do they behave differently on different patches?
