How to get the MP3-Player:

what is DV
The other extensions are explained: SR is sonic reality PS is precision sound.. I see some samples in the clavia library are DV, anyone know?

No one else but me was wondering, but here's the answer:
This was perhaps not intended to be part of the names back in those days, since this was only used many, many years ago. We used DV as short for "Different Vendors", meaning samples that have many different un-named sources. Some of these may even be from Public Domain offerings. It was meant as a temporary thing, but then the DV label stayed.
Funny thing is though, noone has asked us this before.
