Monitor in for Nord Stage 2

I notice that the new Nord Stage 2 has a monitor in function where you can plug in an mp3 player or similar with a stereo minijack and rehearse or play along to backing tracks. However according to what I have read it only plays back through the headphone output and not throught the line out connections. Does this mean that you can only use this function to play along and listen via headphones? I would have thought it better to offer playback via the monitor outs with the facility to adjust the keyboard and the 'backing' respective volumes. Anyone have further information about this feature?

You read correctly, it only plays the monitor in through the headphone out. It's more for timing and synchronisation, than for routing an external audio source to the stage outs.

Is this for the "Nord Stage 3" still the same (only Headphone out)?
Can I just the volume of the monitor in via NS 3 or only via the extern device?

Unlike NS2, NS3 routes the Monitor In to the main outputs, but you would have to control that volume on your external device (or with some other device).

Hi, it's on page 59 of the manual:
- The Monitor In signal is routed to the Headphones and Ch 1&2 outputs.

2 questions :
* Any experience in physically rewiring the Monitor In of a Stage 2 to have both headphones AND 1&2 outputs ?
* Thinking of changing (inserting inside) the Monitor In mini jack with a very small audio interface, directly inside the Stage. Idea would be to make full use of the EXT section, rerouted to the Audio interface with a real knob, mixed in the Stage 1&2 Outputs.
