10 Classic Rock and Other Programs
Posted: 19 Oct 2014, 05:34
I have had my Nord Stage 2 for a couple months now and have put together a few programs that you might find useful to work with. Note that most of my programs use the control pedal morph even if only to bring instruments in and out of a mix. You will need some additional samples for some of the programs. I went to the Nord User Sample Collection at http://www.norduserforum.com/nord_sample_collection.php (<-link) and added patch 250 "SteelGit Dvv4.nsmp" posted by DJKeys, patch 301 "DX7 Rhodes.nsmp" posted by ibljula, and patch 399 "12String.nsmp" posted by Mr_-G- to my Nord Stage 2 sample memory.
The memory locations in my Nord Stage 2 for the samples used in the programs are:
52 DX Piano (preloaded factory sample "DXPiano_ste_PH.nsmp")
73 SynthPad1 (preloaded factory sample "SynthPad1_ste CLv4.nsmp")
74 SynthPad2 (preloaded factory sample "SynthPad2_ste CLv4.nsmp")
76 White Noise (preloaded factory sample "White Noise.nsmp")
116 SteelGit Dvv4 (posted by DJKeys)
120 12String (posted by Mr_-G-)
135 DX7 Rhodes (posted by ibljula)
It doesn't matter which sample memory locations you store the new samples in your Nord Stage 2, just make sure that after you load a program, that you point the Slot A and/or Slot B Synth to the correct sample in your system - the information is provided with each program below. Use the list above as a reference - for example, if you load "DX7 Rhodes" into your sample location 140 (135 in mine), then every reference to sample "135" below should be replaced with "140". I'll revise this post as needed based on questions, so feel free to comment.
Take care.
I have two versions of a DX7 Rhodes below, the first uses sample 135 in slot A and sample 52 in slot B. In the mp3 I start with the Program, then add the second DX, and then add a Hammond with Leslie and slow Tremolo: The second DX7 Rhodes uses sample 135 in slot A and sample 74 in slot B. In the mp3 I start with the DX, then add SynthPad2, and then add a Hammond with Leslie and slow Tremolo: The next few use samples 116 and 120 for acoustic 6 and 12-string guitars. First is a quick James Taylor 6-string sample 116 with piano and Hammond (sample 120 is in slot B but not active): Next are two versions of the Eagles Hotel California. A real 12-string guitar has strings an octave apart on the lower 6 and in unison on the upper 6, so these programs have a 3-part split with the middle split emulating the "strings" an octave apart. Both programs use "Ital Harpsich 1A Short Str 5.0.npno" in the Piano section for part of the effect (note: make sure the program uses the correct Harpsichord after loading). Version 1 uses sample 116 in slot A: Version 2 is programmed a little differently and uses sample 120 in slot A: The last of the guitar Programs features the 6-string (116 in slot B) with a 12-string (120 in slot A) brought in with the control pedal: Next, a few classic rock programs - first, Foreigner's Waiting for a Girl with a Rhodes and Synth using SynthPad2 in slot A: The synthesizer in Emerson Lake and Palmer's From the Beginning: Starting from the factory "Fifth Wheel MW.ns2p", the next program is Abacab by Genesis with the organ and synthesizer 5ths. A Sequential Circuits Prophet 10 was used on the original song for both parts, but I used a Hammond for the organ to free up the slot B Synth playing around with the features and effects (second part of the mp3). Lastly, here's a shot at the surf and strings in Grand Funk's I'm Your Captain / Closer to Home using the 76 White Noise sample in slot A and 73 SynthPad1 in slot B: LINK "Stage 2 - For Those New To Programming" --> nord-stage-2-programs-ns2p-ns2pb-files- ... 16863.html
