Hi BobbyT,
I wouldn't give up yet. I think it is a nice and easy looper to pair with your 3p once you got this problem sorted. Check if there is a Bastl MIDI looper section on Elektronauts, or Mod Wiggler, see if other people are having similar difficulties with their looper. If you hadn't already, check this video by Bastl:
On the 3p the MIDI note is set per drum channel. In the MIDI menu use the drum channel selection buttons (CH SELECT) to see the note [nt.XX] for each drum channel. Only these 6 MIDI notes will trigger the drum sounds via the global MIDI channel, any other notes will be ignored. So if the looper for example transposes all recorded notes with an octave, you won't hear any drum sounds.
Also using the channel selection buttons, make sure that the individual MIDI channel is off on all 6 drum channels [Ch.OF]. The global MIDI channel [GL.10] applies to all 6 drum channels, and should correspond with the voice MIDI output channel on the looper. As advised in the Bastl video, switch local off on the 3p when it's connected to the looper [Lo.OF]. This is a global setting that will be reset (!) when you switch off the 3p. (the 'feedback filter' setting on the Bastl basically does the same.) If you happen to have a USB MIDI interface, you could check what MIDI is coming out of the looper in a DAW, or MIDI monitoring app, it may help to further diagnose the problem.
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Anyone use the Bastl Midi Looper?
Man I just got the bastl tonight and been trying to get this to cooperate with my Nord 3p as well. I got it to trigger and played a few jams so far. My issues are these.
1. I change the length to 8 bars instead of 28 or whatever it keeps reverting back to and it seems I need to change it every time. Its very irritating. So I need to change the length every time? And this thing cant figure out how it wants to record meaning I press record and it either does record or doesnt. Its very strange!
2. I used a midi solutions thru box. So my whole set up is midi keyboard to the midi solutions box that breaks out to my Roland sh4d then was going to add other synths and maybe other gear. I tried to set the looper on the chain thru the midi solutions box but no dice. Kind of sucks since I dont want to have to mess with chords every time I want to mess with how its plugged in.
3. My nord drum seems to need to use both in and out puts so its permanently connected to my interfaces midi since I need to route it when recording in reaper. Using the bastl seems to be a stand alone device and seems useless for me since I like to keep my gear plugged in and record audio and midi.
4. the bastl commands just plain f**** suck and the tutorial videos are too long and no chapters. The manual lacks and its just more of a pain in the ass to use. I bout this to not have to f**** with sequences in Reapers terrible piano roll for my nord 3 p but I guess thats my best option and its faster in a way.
5. These toys are just pure gimmiks Ive come to realise amongst the synth community. Its all hipster money grabs and trying to solve a problem by creating more problems.
6. Im going to buy and try the retrokit midi looper. Its more expensive but it seems better with a screen and easier to use and program.
7. Im so tired of simple things being so complicated. Its bad enough the nord drum manual sucks and the pads have shortest out on me 3 times and tonight Messi g around another pad has been acting up. Im going to cut them off and send it to someone who modified them to inputs for external pads instead. Im tired.
Reason I got this looper is because my WHOLE intention was to be able to live play what I wanted i to a sequence and loop it. Ive tried others and it seemed I can only play the sequences pads or whatever to trigger the nord. I want to play the nord and have it loop what I play. Not me having to plug the best in and it triggers the nord. Annoying. Know of anything that exists that does this and isn't the bastl or retrokits? Im thinking midi routing in my daw is faster and way cheaper. Cant belive this thing costs 300$.
