I considered this, but the connector vendor Amphenol-FCI offers both LIF and ZIF connectors that match the ribbon from the Fatar keybed. --I still question Nord's choice of LIF here.

hey Pablo and pterm...

thanks for sharing your knowledge on this.... I approached the task of disconnecting the ribbons this morning and with some fiddling/ wiggling managed to disconnect the LIF connections.
I also managed to do some light panel beating on the underneath steel frame to fix the problem of 3 lowest keys hitting the top red panel on return.

The trickiest and most annoying part was reconnecting the top LIF connector... took a fair bit of wiggling from side to side ... whilst dreading the possibility of twisting/damaging the white ribbon.

Anyway... tis all good now.. Nord Piano 3 is playing like its old self. :thanks:

regards from Australia,
Allan

Hello,
Could you please let me know the type of the cable in the picture here. Where could I buy it?
I need to replace this part because it is broken. :(

The cable type appears to be "FFC" Flat Flexible Cable.

Before replacing the cable I strongly recommend first checking that the cable is properly inserted at both ends.

To find a replacement, you need to confirm the following on the cable:
1. Length end to end
2. Width
3. Number of connections.
4. Pitch of the connections (center to center spacing of the conductors)
5. Do the cables connections switch sides (TOP-BOTTOM) or not (TOP-TOP).
6. If possible, measure the thickness at the connection end.

If you provide this information I can help you identify options for the cable. If you provide pictures of the cable (removed from Nord), it may help. If you want to search on your own, I recommend searching for FFC on Mouser or DigiKey websites. These distributors carry many of these, and include pictures, so it might help you identify the part you seek.
