NS2 EX Strange behaviour while turning on
Hello all,
Before all, as this is my first post here, I would like to say hello to everyone.
I would appreciate if you can help me. I noticed yesterday little bit weird behaviour of my NS2 ex when I'm turning it on.
This strange behaviour appears if the keyboard have been previously turned off with program where the piano section is OFF. So, when I turn it ON, after it boot, the piano section, no mather if it is on slot A or B, shortly turns ON and turns OFF. Like on video attached below - please focus on piano section.
The MIDI in cable is unplugged and it is set up to receive MIDI over the MIDI in port, not USB, so it cannot receive any incomming MIDI message.
Is this normal? I didn't notice something like this before. Ok, usualy my programs always have Piano section turned on, so I even was no able to notice somethisng simillar.
Should I be worried?
Thank you all in advance and apologies for mistakes in english.
Cheers.

Re: NS2 EX Strange behaviour while turning on
Hi and welcome to the Forum!
To me this seems to be abnormal.
I wonder if one of the control buttons is stuck. I don't know enough about the NS2EX to suggest where to look...
Is this switching from Piano to Organ? If so, check the organ selection buttons.
If you find a button issue, there are threads here that explain how to open, clean, and rehabilitate them. We can point you to them if needed.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

Hey pterm, thank you very much for your response.
As I see, nothing stucked. This is the button to turn on/off piano section. Maybe something happened with it.
I will feedback here about what is the issue.

Re: NS2 EX Strange behaviour while turning on
I'd recommend spraying some De-Oxit or Electro-Wash around those buttons in the piano section. Sometimes a bit of dust or grit will get in there and cause unexpected behavior. I've seen it happen on program buttons and using a little bit of Electro-Wash has fixed it for me. Good luck!

Re: NS2 EX Strange behaviour while turning on
It doesn't have necessarily to look physically stuck, it could be a problem inside the button, at its contacts (see discussions that pterm suggested, like this one viewtopic.php?p=157722), other thing you should check are the connections between panel board and mainboard: open the NS2 and reseat (unplug/replug) the cables on both sidesZajo_beslic wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 20:46 Hey pterm, thank you very much for your response.

Re: NS2 EX Strange behaviour while turning on
Mine does exactly the same.
I never even noticed, I suppose it's just a normal behaviour.
Does the piano section on/off button work correctly in normal use? If it does, it seems very unlikely that it only malfunctions one time at every startup.
If you have no other issues, and every key, button and knob works correctly, I don't think it's worth the risk to open the instrument, disassemble and clean random parts that may be perfectly functional.

Re: NS2 EX Strange behaviour while turning on
Well if that's the case (normal behavior) and apart from that all works fine, I would of course agree and suggest just to do nothing!Spider wrote: ↑11 Mar 2025, 20:27 Mine does exactly the same.

Then maybe I panicked without the reason.
Anyway, thank you for sharing this.
Yes, everything is working perfectly after this.
I contacted official shop, and luckily they are overbooked for next 3 weeks.
