Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who
Hi Guys,
Anyone know how to get the synth sound for Won't get Fooled Again. I kinda have the sound and the slow phase but can't get the repeating element and have to stab the riff manually which is a bit of a pain in the hand. I may be being dumb here but I've tried for hours to get it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Yeah, the trick is to play behind (blue eyes?) the tremolo effect, so it's less a repeating held set of notes, and more just a square-wave filter on top of an organ chord.

Re: Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who
Once you get the filter effect, I think you're better off playing the hits rather than programming in the pulse, because it's easier for you to follow the tempo of your drummer than it is for your drummer to follow the tempo of your synth. If you must program it in, you should do what The Who did... feed it to the drummer via headphones. And you have to make sure your drummer is capable of following its tempo, like playing to a click, which not every drummer is good at. (It might be easier to include a click in the headphone feed... I don't know whether or not The Who did that... and I don't know of a way you could do it from the Nord.)

Ah, not yet learned how to do all the samples myself. Anyway to convert as a NSMP file? Thanks!

Re: Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who
Couldn't agree more, but found a compromise that works live - start (without the powerchord from the guitar) using the tremolo to play the full intro, then click it off when the drummer joins in and move to playing the hits for the rest of the song (including the solo section later).anotherscott wrote:Once you get the filter effect, I think you're better off playing the hits rather than programming in the pulse, because it's easier for you to follow the tempo of your drummer than it is for your drummer to follow the tempo of your synth.
It keeps the intro tight and (shock horror) the drummer is obliged to start the song at the same speed every gig !
Of course, give him a minute and it's back to his rules !!!

Re: Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who
I use one of these and set the tremolo tempo against the master clock:
http://www.ploytec.com/34oneII/
Saves setting the drummer to a click (some drummers can't play to click anyway)

Re: Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who
can anyone share anything close to wgfa program for the stage 4 ... nothing downloaded from anywhere works, regardless of what I try.
whilst the machine can and has changed stage3 format to stage 4, that just doesnt work for wannitbad stage 3 version. \Maybe a clever person can share their own creation or if able to upgrade wannitbad to stage 4 then just post that...

Re: Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who
Using the Nord Stage 2 and 3 Program Viewer you can view the synth and effects settings I used for my Stage 3 program, however I believe the Stage 4 has an arpeggiator setting that will work instead of needing to use the LFO like I did for the pulses. Good luck to you!
